The benefit of a datalogger is to see information in detail that would normally be very hard to see. During a 12 second 1/4 mile run, how many times do you check (and remember) all your gauge readings? A datalogger can "look" at 12 different readings and remember all 12 five times a second!* You can then go back and analyze this information in detail at your leisure.
There is another benefit of a datalogger in that you can read values (like timing and knock*) that you normally would not be able to access using external sensors or gauges. This gives you an inside view of what's going on in your engine.
In addition, our DSM and OBDII PocketLOGGER allow you to read and clear engine error codes that cause the Check Engine Light to come on.
If you are doing any kind of modifications to your car or have any type of fuel control (like an AFC or VPC) a datalogger is an indispensable tool to make sure your engine is running correctly.
* Data rates and parameters available to log differ between cars.
