A datalogger has no control over your ECU. Aside from clearing Error Codes (turns off Check Engine Light), you cannot change any parameters within the ECU. You cannot edit timing or fuel maps. It is strictly a data collection instrument. Since aftermarket fuel control units (like the AFC or VPC) typically do not have any datalogging features, a datalogger compliments these fuel control units very well.
